Jaguar XJR-9LM. 1/24 Tamiya scale model kit. Body preparation & cutting-out the doors
I think I told previously that I like to work on the interior and it always makes me pissed off when I have to hide this work under the closed body. This time I decided to go a bit extra mile and opend the doors, plus the kit has the detailed engine and hood which is detachable. So, my idea is to have almost fully open model with every detail showed.
Before cutting-out the doors I need to do initial pre-assembly ensuring that all main body parts fit together nicely.
Removing the roof support requires enforcing the roof, thus I added the brass rod.
Now I can cut out the doors with the scriber and saw.
I also added seals for better detailing.
Since the kit is very old the opposite side of the hood was very bad quality and needed some love.
Appart from the abovementioned work, I removed the molding seams, processed the entire surface with 600 grit sponge and painted the body in flat black inside and gloss white outside.
